Better thermal comfort
Buildings must optimize the factors influencing thermal comfort, such as temperature, humidity or air velocity.
Building better for the people
Sustainable buildings is not only about the planet, but also about taking care of the people (both occupants & people who build)
Building better for the planet
At Saint-Gobain, we promote a "fabric-first" approach, meaning that the building should first be energy efficient through its highly performing envelope: needs for heating, cooling and lighting should be limited to the unavoidable minimum.
Building labelling schemes
Sustainable construction is a worldwide major trend. When we know that buildings are responsible for 39% of worldwide CO2 emissions, it is indeed the right way to go. Building certifications are a proof that buildings have been designed to reduce their footprint on the planet and increase positive impact for the people.
Buildings of a better quality
Ageing building stock in developed countries: growing needs for renovation.
Goal to make buildings last: by using reliable materials, that will maintain performance over time
Can a higher STC value be achieved if faced stone wool insulation instead of un-faced insulation is used in a partition ?
There is no change in STC value of a partition assembly.
Can you get better insulation by compressing the mineral wool?
You can reduce the lambda value (increase insulation ability) slightly by compression and higher density up to some extent. But at the same time you reduce the thickness and it is more important than the lambda value. One should therefore strive to have custom thicknesses.
